Mild quakes hit southern Philippines

Two mild quakes with both measuring 3.7 magnitude jolted two provinces in Mindanao in southern Philippines Friday morning, causing no casualties, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

One quake, which is or tectonic in origin, initially struck General Santos City in Mindanao around 0811 local time (0011GMT), while another temblor was felt in Tandag, Surigao del Sur one hour later, said Phivolcs, which traced movements along the Philippine Trench as the cause of the quake.
